MBD Chess Mates Clinic and Beginners Tournament
Have you wanted to learn to play chess but didn't know where to start? Are you curious about participating in a chess tournament? Look no further because we will have both!
Dates: 8/26 - 8/27
Agenda:
Class from 9 am - 12 pm on 8/25. Topics include:
- Rules
- Notation
- Basic strategy
- Tournament basics
After that, we will have one practice game with review before the start of the tournament.
Tournament:
4SS, Time Control G/65 d/5. One section only, U1000 or Unrated
Entries limited to U1000 or Unrated. USCF membershuip is required for participation in the tournament.
Round times: Sat (8/26) 3 pm, Sun (8/27) 9, 11:30, 2:00 (all times EDT)
No cash prizes will be awarded at this tournament. Trophies will be awarded to the top three finishers (more may be added depending on amount of advance entries)
Entry Fees (please use the link at right to enter):
Adult - $55 which includes 1 yr Adult USCF membership, participation in tournament and class
Young Adult (19 - 24) - $42 which includes 1 yr Young Adult USCF membership, participation in tournament and class
Youth (13 - 18) - $37 which includes 1 yr Youth USCF membership, participation in tournament and class
Scholastic (up to age 12) - $32 which includes 1 yr Scholastic USCF membership, participation in tournament and class
